Early Victorian Carved Walnut Upholstered Armchair
An attractive upholstered armchair. We date these to the mid 19th century.
The chair sits on two decoratively carved cabriole legs at the front and two turned square section legs at the rear.
The padded backrest has lovely square shaped wings, the seat is sprung and has a loose seat cushion. The armrests are also padded with shapely carved fronts and a lovely carved design below the front of the seat.
The chair is upholstered in a golden coloured material with the backrest, loose seat cushion and armrests having a tapestry material.
The chair is very comfortable to sit on, with the backrest being shaped to provide good support for the back.
The chair has an overall height of 50" (127cm), an overall width of 29" (74cm), an overall depth of 32.5" (83cm), a backrest height of 31" (79cm), a seat height of 18" (46cm), a seat width of 22" (56cm) and a seat depth of 20.5" (51cm).
The chair remains in a good usable condition with surface marks commensurate with age and usage. The material has some tears and wear as can be seen in the pictures and as such could do with being repaired or reupholstered. There is some slight play to the frame.
This remains a very stylish and elegant armchair. It is very comfortable and supportive to sit on and will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
