This is a beautiful Chinese mirrored reverse painting on glass from the 19th century, circa 1870 in its original decorative lacquered chinoiserie frame. The painting is in the 18th century style and depicts the Emperor and his attendant in a typical Chinese interior. The vibrant colours have great depth and the scene is painted onto a mirrored glass panel which cleverly gives the effect of a window from their room. The mirrored section is in super order with a lovely antique sugaring and shimmering effect to the hand made glass.
The painting measures 48cm by 39cm.
