Dorothy Dean 1920-2005 Oil Vase of Dahlias
We are offering for sale this lovely floral still life oil on canvas by the artist DOROTHY DEAN, who has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner. The painting depicts a pottery jug full of peach and cream dahlias and is beautifully executed.
DOROTHY DEAN (Dorothy Howard) 1920-2005, lived in Alton, Hampshire for the last 30 years of her life until her death in 2005. She was a painter in oils, watercolour and a pastel artist. She was a Member of the Society of Women Artists and an Associate Member of the National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Gravers. She exhibited at the above and The Pastel Society and many London galleries. There was a Retrospective Exhibition of her work at The Allen Gallery in Alton in 2010. She was best known for her figure work and depictions of ballerinas, although in later years she turned to landscape.
The painting is framed in a 2" wooden, part gilded frame and is ready to hang.
