Country Sports Stirrup Tot Cup Set Cheltenham Int'

A Beautiful Antique Leather and Silver Plated Tot or Field-Sports Cup / Beaker Set.
Date: Late 19th - early 20th Century.
This is one of the nicest examples that we've found for some time. The item has clearly been very well-used and loved over many decades and, as a result, displays outstanding overall colour and patination. The leather with marking, wear and old polish, commensurate no doubt with many excursions out 'in the field' - on the hills, in the woods and at the river bank.
The underside base still retains the original retailers label for the Goldsmith, John Simmons, 384, High Street Cheltenham. Each silver-plated beaker is fully marked for Atkin Brothers (Sheffield).
The surface quality of the leather, the rigidity and overall build quality together with the weight of each beaker, in the hand, leave's one with no doubt that this is a high-end example of its type.
There is some wear, cracking and splitting to the carry strap in places....but it is still structurally sound and functional. The beakers with some minor presses to the rims and external scoring / scratches as is to be expected. But the overall patination and 'history' evident with this piece are what make it so desirable.
A must for those who hunt, shoot and fish......or perhaps an ideal addition to a day at the Cheltenham races, this wonderful old beaker set could be put back into service, as originally intended, or simply retained as a lovely display object in its own right.
