A large Coco De Mer basket,circa 1930.These stunning items are becoming a lot harder to locate, they are endemic and now can only be removed from the island of Prasil or Curieuse in the Seychelles in the Indian ocean under strict licensing laws.
The Coco De Mer is the largest nut in the world,this example measures 31cm long,25cm wide and 13cm high
It has been naively decorated around the top perimeter edging with a cross hatch design.
