This is delightful and exquisitely painted Chinese watercolour dating from the mid 19th century. The painting is in the most beautiful gouache colours and shows a young dignitary, seated with a female attendant at his side, and a large panel screen with peacocks behind him. It is neatly mounted in a gilded frame which suits it well. There are a couple of monor breaks to the pith, the painting has incredible detail and great depth of colour.
This measures 28 cms by 20 cms.
