Champleve Grande Sonnierre repeat carriage clock
This is a beautiful and rare Champleve enamel carriage antique clock of French manufacture dating from the turn of the 19th/20th century is unsigned although the movement is of the finest quality and numbered.
The clock has a running duration of 8 days and retains its original platform escapement which is running perfectly. It has a complicated movement with the option of Grande Sonnierre or Petite Sonnierre striking on two coiled gongs with a strike silent lever under the base . These strikes can also be activated by a repeat button on top of the case . It also has the further addition of an alarm.
When new this clock would have been very expensive indeed and only within the reach of only the most wealthy clients

The Anglaise case is richly decorated on all four sides and the top with bright Champleve enamel.
This item is is is 7 1/2 inches high with the handle raised. It is 3 3/4 wide. The depth is 3 3/8 inches.
The overall condition is excellent with the movement professionally serviced and the case polished .
The white enamel dial with Arabic numerals is indistinctly signed and retains its finely made hands . The dial has some very faint hairline cracks which I am unable to photograph and cannot be seen from 12 inches away as they virtually invisible
