A magnificent, high quality burr walnut 8 day longcase by Richard Peyton, Gloucester. The movement striking the hours & with strike/silent in the arch of the 12” dial, which has “urn” spandrels. Usual seconds & calendar & blued steel hands. The superb case has a wonderful colour & patina & a wealth of quality detail. ¼ matched door, cross banded front, base & sides, decorative stringing, hood & caddy fretted on all 3 sides, cross-grain mouldings.
