A British Virgin Islands 1980 Gold Proof Twenty Five Dollar 25$ Coin, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, issued by the Franklin Mint. Minted in 500/1000 fine gold.
This new denomination gold coin was issued by the British Virgin Islands for the first time in 1980. Its reverse carries an exquisite new design of the Osprey by Gilroy Roberts, one of the world's foremost medallists and sculptors of birds. The handsome bird of prey is shown as it begins a spectacular dive to catch fish. The obverse of the coin bears the world-famous portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin, O.B.E. This signifies that the British Virgin Islands is a member nation of the Commonwealth.
The coin is encapsulated and complete with presentation case from The Franklin Mint.
Also with the Certificate of Authenticity (COA), booklet confirming the coin's design and original letter from Franklin Mint limited as issued.
