Here we have a wonderful rare 17th century Olive wood Oyster veneered lace box c1690. As you can see the box has fantastic colour and patina. The top is covered in fine Oyster cut veneers of Olive wood and a cross banded border. There is a sectional cross grained thumb moulding to the edge. There is a decorative and beautiful inlaid double circle probably in the favoured Walnut to the top. The sides have cross banded veneers and you can see from the photos of the underneath that these are thick and slightly irregular due to them being hand cut which is correct for the period. The interior has been lined later with paper c1850 and and there is an original working lock and key. The base is finished with a sectional cross banded quadrant thumb mould. The box is in excellent retail condition and ready for any collection or to make the perfect jewellery box for your home. The dimensions are approx 34 cm wide 22 cm deep 8 cm high.
