This is a delightful, original painting after Francois Boucher painted in bold gouache colours around 1860. This is in its original stained wood frame with oval brass mount. The painting depicts a lovely pastoral scene with lambs and a garden water feature and a lady holding a birds nest. The painting is signed de’ l Boucher.

Francois Boucher (1703-1770) was a French painter, etcher and draughtsman who famously worked in the Rococo style. He is well renowned for his idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical themes, decorative allegories and pastoral scenes. He was perhaps the most celebrated painter and decorative artist of the 18th century.

The picture is 12 cms by 10 cms overall with the image being 6 cms by 5.4 cms.
