Antique Victorian 8-Day Grandfather Clock
This attractive long-case antique clock dates from the late Victorian period. Please note that it is sold as seen and is not currently working. It would need to be set up and serviced by a professional horologist prior to use. The clock has a lovely decorative flame mahogany case with cross-banding, string inlay and twist decoration. The supports at either side of the glazed door at the top have brass tops and bottoms. The clock retains what appears to be its original face, which is very worn. The main clock hands are brass and are engraved and the face has an arched top with a hand-painted scene at the top. The clock is designed to be screwed to the wall and so has no back legs. There are no maker's marks. The pendulum, weights and key are present.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in fair condition and does have some wear consistent with age and use. It is not currently in working order (as we have not set it up) and it would need setting up and servicing by a professional horologist prior to use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is a shrinkage crack to the base, and there is some lifting, cracking, loss and damage to the veneer in places. The clock face is heavily worn with significant paint loss.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 222cm high, 53.5cm wide, 25cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
