This is an antique Lancashire rocking chair. An English, ash and elm spindle back seat, dating to the Georgian period and later, circa 1800.
Wonderful country-house appeal
Displays a desirable aged patina throughout
Ash and elm offer fine grain interest beneath a wax polish finish
Dark russet hues abound with polished embers of dark caramel
Comfortable rush seats in very good original order
Tall, distinctive open spindle back with 15 turned balusters
Shaped upper rail with three bowed lower rails
Serpentine arms raised upon turned supports with bulb forms
Later rocking feet with stretchers uniting each leg
