This is Georgian solid Oak Armorial Hall Chair c1820-40. It is raised on turned and carved front legs with swept back legs. It has the obligatory hard seat to keep that salesman on his toes when he comes to call. The back is stunning with carved and scrolled decoration being surmounted by a fan swags. In the Centre is a hand painted Armorial Shield sadly I have not found whose it is yet.

This piece has walked through history like a time traveller observing many generations and seeing untold things from world wars to empire. If it could talk what would it say?
