Antique Armchair Club Lounger Chair Victorian Engl

Original Victorian Armchair - Stunning Shape - c1870
A very desirable Victorian upholstered armchair by the noted London company Charles Hindley & Sons dated c1870.
C Hindley and Sons were antique furniture makers of Oxford Street, London, England who traded from 1766-1898. The company (the C stands for Charles) were notable quality London fine antique furniture, rug and floor cloth manufacturers (Furniture History Society, Dictionary of English Furniture Makers, pp. 433 & 606) who took over the firm of Miles & Edwards, cabinetmakers, of 134 Oxford Street in 1844. Thereafter, they established trade at the Oxford Street premises where their business as high quality cabinet makers flourished, earning them a Royal Appointment, and a part in the Great Exhibition.
With a very pleasing shape this quality armchair is a rare find. The upholstery is in good condition throughout and the armchair is ready for the home. Equally, as the chair is in superb condition structurally, the piece would make a fine chair for those seeking a piece to recover - certainly a chair of note and one that has the character to become a family favourite.
Riding upon the original solid brass castors the chair offers much in the way of comfort with supportive seating and arms. It makes the perfect place to relax.
The chair would work beautifully in any location, residential or commercial, and would make a fine feature piece or is suitable for daily use.
Overall the chair displays excellently with huge style and visual appeal.
Strong frame and joints throughout - a most desirable and collectible example.
Delivered ready for the home.
