An original yard of Ale
An original yard of Ale also known as a yard of Beer Glass.
First invented in the 17th century to allow bar keepers to pass a drink of Beer to thirsty stage coach drivers whilst sitting on top of the coach. The design allowed the drink to be passed without spillage. Beer would be in the glass bowl & the froth in the funnel area. This allowed the beer to be drunk with the froth remaining in the glass.
