A very nice military hat box in grained and painted steel, the lid inscribed for ‘PWA Agnew / Royal Army Medical Corps’ and bearing the remains of old paper labels. As one would expect, this item has obviously ‘had a life’, but this only adds to its charm, and overall it is still in very good condition for its age. 32cm x 40cm base x 48 cm tall.

The Royal Army Medical Corps was founded in 1898. I have been able to find out very little about the original owner of this box, except that he was apparently commissioned Lieutenant in 1928, and that Lt PWA Agnew RAMC resigned his commission in 1930 (Source: The London Gazette).
