A simply fabulous oval Italian (purchased in Rome)or possibly French Ormolu jewellery box with key, with original silk lining and the portrait of a young woman hand painted on mother of pearl to the lid. Sold to us as circa 1850 but thought to be 18th century. The silk is in poor condition which is to be expected with the age of the box, with some staining and splits to the material but otherwise the box is in very good condition.
