A charming early 19th century portrait of a thourough bred race horse with an honest country house quality.

Alongside the horse the owner is deep in conversation with his jockey......some last minute words of encouragement or guidance perhaps?

This painting displays well and as we have described retains a country house feel. There has been periods in its past when a repair has been executed to just above the saddle area and the whole being over varnished producing an almost sepia tone. Losses to the gesso frame.

That all said we feel all these marks add to its character and leave us with a period oil on canvas that will display well in any room.
