18th Cent Mahogany 8 Day Longcase Clock
A handsome 18th Cent longcase clock by W Reynolds of Uxbridge, Middlesex. The case is in lovely figured mahogany and in typical "London" style. It has an arched hood with brass inlayed fluted columns. The trunk has similarly fluted columns and a long door with moulded edge.
The good quality 8 day, 5 pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a most attractive brass and silvered dial. It has ringed winding holes, subsidiary seconds dial and date indicator. To the arch is an unusual arrangement of two winged cherubs either side of an engraved sun surmounted by a crown.
The movement and case are possibly associated but fit together ok. The movement is in good working order and keeping good time.
The case is a lovely colour and has retained its original finish. It has had the usual minor repairs over the last 200 years. The trunk door is a little warped but when locked shut looks fine. It has working locks and keys to both the hood and trunk doors.
The maximum dimensions are:
211cm (83") high
54cm (21") wide
25cm (10") deep
All in all a very smart looking antique clock at a fraction of the price you would expect.
Free local delivery and set up (50mls), national and international delivery arranged at cost.
