1812 British Naval Half Penny Token aF Lord Nelson
Arthur Vandyk Antiqued are proud to present for sale this original Nelson 1812 half penny token used within the Navy in 'almost Fine' condition. This token commemorates Nelson defeating the Napoleonic forces on HMS Victory at the battle of Trafalgar on the 21st October 1805. At his victorious battle, Lord Admiral Nelson was shot by a French Musketeer and subsequently died of his injuries on board HMS Victory. This coin commemorates this decisive battle.
The details are as follows:
Type of coin/token: Half penny
Date: 1812 (7 years after the Battle of Trafalgar)
Theme: Historic: Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar
Condition: aF (almost Fine)
Condition report
The token is in overall good order for its 208 year age with the date still legible - the detail of HMS Victory is still evident and some strands of Nelson’s hair is still visible as well as the detail of his uniform still present, please see the photos for details. Unfortunately there are multiple knocks round the coin, see photos, but otherwise a good, clean example.
This would be a great addition to your coin collection and a great piece for a collector of historical military artefacts, and would make a thoughtful gift too for a military history enthusiast.
Imagine owning a commemorative coin from this famous battle of Trafalgar that was produced at the time? Well this is your opportunity to own a piece of british history. Free Postage Within the U.K.
