15th Century Weather Worn Istrian Carved Stone Font, from Northern Italy


Rare and Heavy, this is a wonderful piece, the carvings around the top edge are of a Solomon’s Knot and a Coat of Arms set in a shield alternated around the edge. The base has a corinthian style carving.
Considering the age this piece is in pretty good condition if weather worn
The Font comes in to 2, the top (bowl) has handles and can be lifted by 2 people, the base is solid stone and very heavy
The overall height is 31”, the bowl is 21” inside, 26” outside, 34” including the handles . the base is 22” square
