Description

A very elegantly proportioned Georgian tea table c1810. Rectangular figured mahogany top with radiused corners. Solid table-top with reeded edge and bordered with inlaid box line. Hinged top opens to reveal a superb, figured mahogany interior with matching inlaid box border. Figured mahogany apron with further inlaid box lines and box-rose-box band to lower edge. Rear legs open on rule joints to support the opened top. Leg tops and gates with baize pads to protect the opened top. Square tapered legs with further box stringing terminating in square cup casters. Sympathetically restored to a very high standard and retaining its original finish. The table is 75 cm in height, its top when folded measuring 91 cm in width and 45.5 cm depth – opening to give a 91 cm square table-top. A very functional occasional table or lovely console table.
This table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Table interior looks virtually unused. Solid sound construction. Gate-leg and table-top hinges are solid and in perfect working order. Restored in our workshop to a high-quality standard using traditional methods and materials. Original finish retained. Minor historic marks, wear and repairs as is to be expected with genuine antique furniture. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
