Description

Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) bronze cylindrical vase c1900. Decorated in detailed high relief with an encircling dragon chasing the elusive flaming pearl. Greek-key band beneath the rim. The body of the vase is patinated in a dark chestnut colour with the dragon contrasted in a darker brown patination. Exceptionally fine chasing and finishing to the applied dragon. Signed with an eight-character mark to the base. The vase is 30.5 cm in height.
The vase is in excellent condition commensurate with age. No damage or losses to the applied decoration. Minor and unobtrusive signs of age to the cylindrical body. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
