Description

Attractively decorated Japanese Imari or Arita vase c1870. Shouldered body with collar neck - glazed in classic imari colours. Decorated with chrysanthemum blossoms aside a weeping cherry blossom tree creating an unusual and attractive imari design. Typical of the Imari porcelain ware that was made for export during the Meiji period. Unusual in that it has a painted mark to its base which commonly indicates a better quality piece. The vase measures 24.5 cm in height.
The vase is in excellent original condition commensurate with age. No crazing, cracks, chips or restoration. Characteristic glaze flaws for imari-ware. Some discolouration on its rim due to its age. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
