Description

An early Victorian deep-button slipper or nursing chair with quality rosewood frame c1850. Fine quality scroll carving to side rails and front legs. Serpentine front rail. Carved cabriole front legs terminating in ball and volute feet and rear out-swept legs. All show-wood is of top-quality rosewood with a lovely aged colour and with its original finish. The chair retains its original horsehair and hessian rolls. Newly and traditionally re-upholstered crown-top, over-stuffed seat and deep-buttoned chair back. Upholstered in Nantucket Sesame (F0594/45) by Clarke & Clarke - view image on our website or request a free sample. Maximum chair measurements are 89 cm height and 55 cm width. Seat depth is 45 cm and height to top of crown is 39 cm.
In excellent condition commensurate with age and use. All joints are solid. Original finish to show-wood retained. Minor historic marks, wear and repairs as is to be expected with genuine antique furniture. Restored in our workshop to a very high standard using traditional methods and materials.
