Description

An elegant George III mahogany demi-lune card table in the Sheraton Style c1790. Fold-over top with top leaf in a one-piece veneer with narrow kingwood crossband and box stringing. Edges with mahogany crossbands and box lines above an apron with mahogany panels framed with further box lined kingwood crossbands. Square tapered legs with sand-shaded box patera and box stringing, terminating in spade feet. Rear legs open on rule joints to support the opened top. Hinged top opens to reveal a baized playing surface with mahogany crossbanded and box lined frieze. Playing surface re-baized in a period colour using top quality woollen fabric. Leg tops and gates with baize pads to protect the opened top. Aged to a gorgeous mellow colour. Sympathetically restored to a high standard and retaining its original finish. The table is 71 cm in height, its top when folded measuring 92.5 cm in width and 45.5 cm depth. A very functional occasional table or lovely console table.

This card table is in excellent condition commensurate with age. Minor historic marks, wear and repairs as is to be expected with genuine antique furniture. This table has been restored in our workshop to a very high standard using traditional methods and materials. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
