Description

Late 18th or early 19th century oak ballot box. In excellent condition and quite intriguing. The hole for the ballot papers has a square plug for when not in use held in place by two turn-buckles. The plug has what I assumed was it's location sign written on including a misspelling, it seems to read 'My. Inty. Bellott
Ollerenshaw
After posting pictures and asking for help a book binder who works on ancient tomes has deciphered it for us, it is as simple as Mr Anthony Bellott of Ollerenshaw. Having been told one can nearly see the missing paint because there is a faint shadow there.
