Description
A huge oak candle box possibly ecclesiastical in origin, truly a hefty piece. It is constructed from oak 1 1/8" thick. It cannot be thought of as a salt box, if full it would pull the nail from the wall. An incredible presence, you can't fail to notice it. It would work as a subtle wine box, it would hide 6 wine bottles and 6 half bottles or beer bottles inside.Date18th Century :
Late 18th century.
Dimensions25 1/4" tall, 14 1/4" wide and nearly 12" deep.
ConditionSolid as a rock and as heavy. Considering age, has had a life but wear around the base indicates that it wasn't hung up often if ever.
