Description

Early 19th century Welsh salt box unusual inasmuch as it is made of teak well ahead of its general use here. Teak used to come in small sailing ships as ballast when returning from the East to small ports around south west Wales. If they didn\'t have enough weight of cargo to keep them upright in a blow it would be taken on to lower the boat to the line. This box is in perfect condition with no damage and a lovely finish.
