Description

A very late 17th or early 18th century stoneware belarmine shaped flagon. Sound as a bell with a small rim chip, the glaze as good as the day it was applied, uneven and hurried. Probably by a child who had to glaze hundreds a day working on piecework. It was twice inscribed with a large 4 while still leather hard on the opposite side from the handle.
