Description

Very large mahogany 2 stage, break-front library bookcase, circa 1900.

The top is separate from the base for ease of transport, but has screw-holes to keep them together.
The top and the base have been put together as a marriage at some point, but someone has gone to much trouble to line the interiors of both and kit them out with matching shelving supports.
The top and base are very similar to each other in colour and style, but small differences show it to be a marriage: the base has arches, rounded mouldings, the fronts of the shelves have different mouldings, as do the front of the doors.
The right side of the top section is rough and unfinished, I imagine it has been against a wall or part of a larger construction.
The left side is good.
The doors on the base section are tight. The arches over the glass are slightly warped outward, so they don't sit flat to the glass.
There is a brass catch at the top of the bookcase to keep the doors closed.
The shelves are all fully removable and adjustable.
The interior paintwork is a bit grubby with age, and there are the usual wear and tear marks from age and use, in the places one might expect - particularly near the floor.

229cm overall height.
Height of base 86cm.
145cm max. length.
baes max. depth 35cm
top section depth 27cm.
