Description

This very unusual longcase clock appears to be an 8 day duration but in fact is 30 hour. The face has 2 winding holes and false winders attached to the face. It is all original not something that has been altered later. The movement has recently received a complete overhall including a new chain and is in perfect working order and is mounted in a very nice oak case. The clock was made by Henry Loat of Liverpool who we believe moved to Wrexham in the 1820's and carried on his trade there until approx 1835.

Height 82"
Width 19.5"
Depth 9.5"

A Note About False Winders
Not common to find, they were often ordered by the customer to deceive friends and family thinking them into believe it was an 8 day clock.. The difference in cost between a 30 hour and n 8 day clock was considerable. So made the owner seem more affluent than he really was. A bit like buying a fake Rolex today!
