A nice 8 day oak longcase clock by Jessie Torkington Newcastle under lyme. 12" square dial with silver chapter ring (a bit worn) good clean 8 day movement with no issues, runs perfectly and keeps good time. Brass fronted lead pendulum bob and a matched pair of iron weights, set in a nice oak case with a caddy top. A pillared trunk and the door being of quarter sawn oak. All round a very very nice clock.

The ball and spires are old but just happen to clean up really nicely.

Jessie Torkington of Newcastle under lyme operated between 1769 - and 1789 in Newcastle and then moved his business to Whitechurch in shropshire and continued there until 1799. he was apprenticed to John Whitehurst of Derby in 1762.
