Description

More photos are available on request.
A high quality Japanese Meiji period bronze planter with panels depicting mostly one type of smaller bird but also stork and turtles amongst native lakeside settings and decorated with the Greek key design around the top.
The planter has been outside and developed a distinctive verdigris patina giving rise to the beautiful green colour in places.
It has beautifully ornate carrying handles formed from animal heads and set off by a demonic looking creature`s-head feet.
Four of the lugs on the base have been detached and professionally soldered back so the planter can be used outside for it`s original purpose or brought inside and used as a log basket or similar.
Signed by the craftsman on the detachable base but part of the mark has been drilled.
There are also some Japanese characters on the body of the planter(last photo).

55cm wide x 32cm high x 27cm deep
Weight approx 14 kg.

Condition:Very good some verdigris, signs of being outside.
