Victorian Dressing Table Pot with Silver Collar 1899
This is a very smart late Victorian Dressing Table Pot with a deep Sterling Silver collar. The pot is slice cut glass whilst the wide stopper has a faceted sphere with a flat top. The silver collar is plain.
The dressing table pot is a versatile container that could be used for any manner of scents or creams or for keeping dry items in.
The Sterling Silver collar is fully hallmarked showing that it was made in London by Robert Pringle & Sons and dates to 1899. Founded in 1871 in London's Clerkenwell Road, home to many silversmiths at that time, the firm remained in business up until around 1960.
Condition is very good with the exception of a small chip on the bottom rim of the stopper. This is not visible when the pot is closed. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The pot stands 7.6cm / 3ins high and is 3.6cm / 1.4ins in diameter. It weighs 94.8g / 3.3oz.
The hallmarks on the silver collar are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter d for 1899 and the R.P makers' mark for Robert Pringle & Sons.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
